Princeton opened the 7-on-7 season

Princeton opened the 7-on-7 season May 16 by hosting a Div. II State Qualifying Tournament.

They finished as one of two champions, with Celina being the other.

The state tournament is scheduled for July 9-10 at College Station’s Veterans Park and Athletic Complex.

Last week in Pool B action, the Panthers beat Whitewright 46-20, Scurry-Rosser 41-18 and Greenville 45-19.

They followed that up with a 33-26 win over Argyle in the semifinals.

Princeton’s junior varsity fell to Van Alstyne 44-13, Bells 33-26 and Aubrey 13-7.

Up next Saturday for the varsity squad is the Texas A&M University-Commerce Div. II SQT and the final one is June 13 at Celina.

Princeton is also hosting a league that features them, Blue Ridge, Whitewright and Community at Jackie Hendricks Stadium.

Remaining dates on the slate are May 21 and May 28.

After graduation, the Panthers will play June 9 (at McKinney North), June 16 (at McKinney Boyd) and June 23 (at McKinney) in the Collin County Passing League.

Involved in the three-week league are McKinney, Boyd and North.
