The solution may not totally satisfy a Wylie man, but access to Clear Lake Cemetery on the shores of Lake Lavon is available, although currently on a somewhat limited basis.
Retired businessman Percy Simmons complained last week that he could no longer access Clear Lake Cemetery without stepping over a locked gate and walking more than a half-mile. Simmons is a frequent visitor to the small cemetery where several of his ancestors are buried.
Until recently, Simmons could enter Clear Lake Park that surrounds the cemetery and drive to the site, but the park is now closed for winter and the interior gates across the road to the cemetery and to a picnic area are padlocked. A road to the boat ramp, however, remains open.
