The community Christmas tree at the Memorial Veterans Park in downtown Princeton was decorated with care earlier this week and is ready to be lit during holiday festivities scheduled for Thursday evening.
Kindergarten students from Princeton Independent School District hung hand-decorated ornaments on the tree throughout the week, the second year that the young students have taken an active part in the community event. Ornaments started as blank wooden bobbles on which the kindergartners added their own holiday artwork.
The community Christmas tree lighting ceremony gets underway at 6 p.m. with music provided by the Princeton High School jazz band and a school choir. Santa Claus arrives at the park about 6:15 p.m. and the tree will be lit at 6:30 p.m. by Mayor John-Mark Caldwell.
