It’s Fire Prevention Week and the National Fire Protection Association, along with the Princeton Fire Department, wants to remind you that, “Not Every Hero Wears a Cape. Plan and Practice Your Escape!” Locally, The Princeton Fire Department responds to over 2,200 calls annually. The department is staffed with a combination of fulltime, part-time and volunteer first responders.
Nationally, in 2017, U.S. fire departments responded to 357,000 home structure fires. The fires caused 2,630 fire deaths and 10,600 fire injuries. On average, seven people died in a fire in a home per day during 2012 to 2016.
