Sitting on top of the world: PHS senior rated among global debate contenders

PHS senior Michael Roets, Jr. recently came out on top in a Hawaiian debate tournament where he faced off against teams around the world. His debate teacher Mr. Jimmy Smith accompanied the senior on the trip.

PHS senior Michael Roets, Jr. recently came out on top in a Hawaiian debate tournament where he faced off against teams around the world. His debate teacher Mr. Jimmy Smith accompanied the senior on the trip.

Princeton High School senior and debater extraordinaire, Michael Roets, Jr., is feeling on top of the world after facing off against teams from across the globe and coming out as the winner last month.

The PHS student was placed on the world stage at the end of September as he and his teammate, Carmen Perez, competed at the Public Forum Debate in Honolulu, Ha. They earned first place making them some of the best debaters in the world.

The duo faced off against other teams including Japan, China and even some from Hawaii in the tournament.
