The Princeton Lady Panthers basketball team had a busy week of district games starting the new year with two losses against the Prosper Eagles, 55-47, and McKinney Boyd, 51-44.

The Lady Panthers started strong against Prosper and kept the game close, but ultimately, could not overcome the tough height disadvantage.

Coach Six Smith acknowledges his frustration with the two recent losses, but said he has a plan as the team moves toward the second half of the season.

“The plan is to continue to improve on the details of the game,” Coach Smith said.

Senior Chandler Evans, who is the lone starter to return from last season, said she plans to focus on the team aspect during the final half of the season.

“The losses are hard for me just because, especially against Boyd, we were right there on the scoreboard,” Evans said. “Losing our seniors (from last season) we’re still rebuilding and the chemistry is just now being built, but this motivates us for the second half of district, and I think it motivates us to really work harder.”

Despite the 2-6 district record, the Lady Panthers look to turn things around as the second half of district is about to begin.

“We plan to win every game,” Evans said. “When you look at our district, it’s all an even playing field. No one’s better than anyone, so we all just start at 0-0 and just go from there. We use us being undersized, especially against teams like Boyd who have a lot of tall girls, since we are the shortest in our district.”
