Strong showing for Princeton FFA

The Princeton FFA chapter recorded a strong showing at the Collin County Junior Livestock Show, with 28 students exhibiting livestock, ag mechanics and floral projects at Myers Park.

“The Princeton FFA chapter had a great week at the Collin County Junior Livestock Show,” said Austin Webster, agriculture science teacher at Princeton High School.

Several students qualified for the premium sale based on their placings. Gavin Jones earned Reserve Grand Champion honors with a Berkshire entry, while Princeton FFA also captured Reserve Grand Champion in the Build-Off competition. Kamryn Ratliff placed first in Machinery and Equipment, and Jacob Hovid earned first place with an exotic steer. Gianna Gray finished first in Hampshire swine.

Other sale qualifiers included Cullen Jenkins, second place lightweight goat; Avery Akins, second place Hampshire swine; Larkin Arnold, second place Duroc swine; Peyton Jenkins, second place medium wool sheep; and Jacob Gallamore, second place livestock and wildlife equipment. Rylee Spurgin placed third in crossbred swine, while Alyssa Gerdes finished fourth in home convenience and furniture and Alexander Gerdes placed fourth in Berkshire swine. Grey Brafford earned fifth place in crossbred swine.

Kahwi Jackson and Kamryn Ratliff also qualified for the sale with their broiler projects.
