The Princeton powerlifting team continued their its start to the season last week at two separate meets held at Prosper High School.
For Daniel Tyutyunnik and Aubrey Arredondo, it proved to be another successful outing. Tyutyunnik earned first place in the 242-pound weight class with a total lift of 1,915 pounds Saturday, while Arredondo won the girls 105-pound class with a total of 720 pounds across the bench press, deadlift and squat at the girls meet held Thursday.
Tyutyunnik was one of five male lifters for Princeton to finish in the top 10.
Grady Upchurch was the runner-up at 198 pounds with a total of 1,630 pounds. Ian Gamboa took fourth at 132 with a 985-pound total, Khatab Alani was fifth in the 165-pound division with a total of 1,160 pounds and Tristan Russell placed ninth at 114 with a total of 650 pounds. Carlos Gonzales finished 14th at 123 pounds, while Titus Phelps and Kealin Wren placed 15th and 17th, respectively, in the 275-pound division.
The Lady Panthers had six lifters place in the top 10 at the Prosper Lady Eagle Powerlifting Meet.
In addition to Arredondo’s gold-medal finish, Astryd Espinoza earned bronze in the 132-pound division with a total of 800 pounds. Alayna Tyler placed fourth at 198 with an 870-pound total, Santiaga Garcia was fifth at 220 with an 855-pound total, Mariam Rasul finished sixth at 105 with a 525-pound total and Sydnee Simmons took seventh at 181 with an 810-pound total.
Amy Rosales placed 12th at 123 pounds and Genise Geebli finished 21st. Emily Silva earned 14th at 165 pounds with a total of 640 pounds, and Daisi Olunaiayomi was 17th with a 635-pound total.
