Camila Beltran and Fernanda Rodriguez-Fierro each had one RBI last week for the Princeton softball team.
Beltran drove in a run in an 11-1 loss to McKinney, and Rodriguez-Fierro had an RBI in a 19-1 loss to Allen.
McKinney led 5-0 after two innings. The Lionettes posted a two-run double and an RBI single — both with two outs — in the first inning and added another RBI single as well as a bases-loaded walk in the second.
Princeton got on the board in the top of the third inning with an RBI single by Beltran. Her hit came two batters after Valentina Beltran reached on a double.
The Lady Panthers had their chances later in the game but were unable to capitalize on a double by Paityn Athey to lead off the fourth inning and a one-out double by Dahlia Gutierrez in the fifth.
McKinney scored six runs over the game’s final two innings, with a defensive error by Princeton during the bottom of the fifth allowing the Lionettes to clinch the victory via the run rule.
Against Allen, Princeton’s only run came courtesy of an RBI single by Rodriguez-Fierro in the bottom of the fifth inning. Isabella Alvarez, who reached on a leadoff single, scored on Rodriguez-Fierro’s hit.
Allen used a disciplined approach to jump-start its offense. Three straight walks to begin the game led to back-to-back singles and a 3-0 Lady Eagles lead in the first inning.
A walk and a defensive error allowed Allen to plate three more runs in the second inning for a commanding 6-0 lead. Allen added single runs in the third and fourth innings before exploding for 11 runs in the fifth to put the game out of reach. The Lady Eagles hit three home runs and drew 15 walks.
Alvarez, Gutierrez, Rodriguez-Fierro, Camila Beltran and Zoie Rainey each collected one hit for Princeton.
Princeton (4-12 overall, 0-5 district) will look to earn its first District 6-6A win of the season Friday at Plano West.
