Library closes the book on summer reading program

The Lois Nelson Public Library has congratulated the 279 participants in this year’s summer reading program. Library Director Glenda Puckett said they logged 3,524 hours of reading across five age categories. 

“Our goal is to help prevent ‘summer slide,’ the learning loss that many students experience during the break from school,” she said.

The winners in each category were Sydni Fuchs in the adult category, Maanasa Peram in high school, Ashvik Tyagi in middle school.
