Princeton drove 30 minutes south to compete in the Wylie East DUBEast Invitational at Founders Park on Friday morning.
Senior Marian Valdez turned in the top individual finish for the Lady Panthers. She finished in 36th place with a 20:21.92 in the women’s 5,000 meters varsity elite race, setting the tone for a ninth-place team finish out of 16 teams for Princeton (236 points).
Her sister, Samantha, turned in the next fastest time for Princeton, running a 20:41.16 for 45th place.
Senior Evelyn Escamilla took 49th in 20:50.3. Freshman Malia Dargel captured 55th with a 21:03. Junior Jillian McCarthy placed 68th with a 21:32.53. Freshman Itzel Ramirez-Millan was 83rd in 22:11.96. Junior Saumya Joshi clocked a time of 23:28.8, good for 101st place.
Princeton also fielded a full boys’ team in Wylie.
Sophomore Eli Fisher ran to 99th place in 18:02.38. Sophomore Josue Silva turned in the next fastest time for the Panthers, capturing 111th place with a time of 18:19.28. Senior Ashton Long finished 128th in 19:01.85. Freshman Luke Bailey took 136th in 19:11.36 and sophomore Stephen Talley captured 138th place in 19:25.94.
Senior Samuel Robles finished in 144th place with a time of 20:18.76 to round out the efforts for the Princeton Panthers.
Princeton finished in 19th place with a team score of 510 points. One of the Panthers’ District 6-6A rivals, Rock Hill, with 61 points, won the team title. Marcus, with 85 points, earned second place. Midlothian Heritage, with 93 points, finished third. The Panthers are scheduled to return to race action at 7 a.m. Friday at Burleson.
