The city of Princeton says it has secured computer systems that may have been targeted in a cybersecurity incident.
In a Sept. 18 release on its website, the city said it was responding “to a cybersecurity incident involving potential unauthorized access to certain city systems and data.”
The city said it has been working with IT and cybersecurity experts as well as law enforcement to identify the nature and scope of the activity.
The release said an investigation was continuing “to determine whether any information was accessed, acquired, or otherwise affected and whether any individuals may have been impacted.”
It added, “If the investigation determines that personal information was affected, the city will provide required notifications to impacted individuals and appropriate agencies in accordance with applicable law.”
