The city of Princeton is continuing to investigate what was called a possible intrusion into critical city information technology and communication systems.
After an executive session at the Sept. 21 special meeting, Councilmember Terrance Johnson said the city had nothing to report.
On Wednesday, Sept. 23, the city posted a release saying, “Two independent reviews have been conducted by cybersecurity experts. Based on the information currently available, neither review has identified evidence indicating unauthorized access to city systems, a confirmed data breach, or unauthorized data exfiltration.”
However, the city added, “While the preliminary findings of these reviews are encouraging, the investigation remains ongoing. Out of an abundance of caution, the city is engaging an additional independent cybersecurity firm to conduct a comprehensive forensic review of the alleged incident.
