Growth remains central issue for Princeton ISD

Continued enrollment growth, staffing needs and classroom programs were among the issues reviewed by Princeton Independent School District trustees during its Monday, Sept. 21 board meeting.

District enrollment has increased by 1,367 students over the past year, with several campuses nearing capacity. Officials reported an increase of 304 students from the previous trustee meeting, followed by another 47 students since Sept. 14.

Harper Elementary has experienced rapid growth and is nearing capacity. Kindergarten and first grade were closed to additional enrollment, while only 19 spaces remained across the other grade levels. Lowe Elementary also is approaching capacity, while one grade at Mayfield Elementary is being monitored.
