McKinney returned two touchdowns for interceptions in the first quarter and a second-half rally by Princeton fell short in a 50-21 loss at Jackie Hendricks Stadium on Friday.

The two interceptions occurred 56 seconds apart with the latter giving McKinney a 15-0 lead with 9:03 remaining in the first quarter.

Princeton got on the board with an Ayden Hughes 10-yard touchdown run with 2:12 left in the opening frame.

Hughes threw for 216 yards on 17 of 29 through the air. Senior wide receiver Jayden Rogers caught five passes for 88 yards.

McKinney scored the next 21 points to take a 36-7 halftime lead.

Princeton mounted a third-quarter rally. Senior running back Sammy Musimbe scored on touchdown runs of 2 and 4 yards with the latter reducing the Panthers’ deficit to 36-21.

The Panthers nearly made it a one-score game but a lost fumble near midfield stalled their momentum. The Lions converted the turnover into points. On the very next play, junior running back TJ Corbett burst 49 yards for a touchdown, increasing McKinney’s lead to 43-21 with 10:28 remaining in the fourth quarter.
