Final tax roll figures for the Princeton Independent School District came in higher than initially budgeted, giving the district more money to reduce debt, Superintendent Donald McIntyre said.
McIntyre reported at the Oct. 19 PISD Board of Trustees meeting that the certified property values totaled $5.9 billion instead of $5.5 billion as initially estimated.
“This means that the district will generate somewhere close to $4.7 million extra in funds when we look at both sides of M&O (maintenance and operations) and I&S (interest and sinking),” the superintendent said. “The biggest plus to us in the district at the moment is that’s going to help us have a little bit extra … on the I&S side for bonding capacity, but then it’s also going to reduce that deficit budget we had beforehand.”
