Overall, Collin County high school students are mostly doing better on statewide tests, according to the Spring 2026 State of Texas.
Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) results released by the Texas Education Agency (TEA).
The End-of-Course (EOC) assessments included classes in Algebra I, English I, English II, Biology and U.S. History.
According to the preliminary TEA results, 81% of Princeton ISD students overall met grade level expectations in Algebra I, a decline of 2 percentage points from 2025 scores; 93% met grade level in Biology, up 4 points; 69% met English I, unchanged from last year; 68% met grade level for English II classes, down 1 point; and 92% met end of course expectations in U.S. History, a decline of 2 points.
Princeton Senior High School Algebra I students improved 25 percentage points from last year with 42% meeting grade level. Biology classes had 69% of students meeting grade level, up 19 points. PSHS English I scores were up 9 points to 24% and English II passing scores dropped 6 points to 13% meeting grade level. U.S. History students had the best score at 92% and a decline of 2 points from 2025.
“Algebra I, English I, English II, and Biology are all primarily administered at Lovelady High School,” said Casey Gunnels, assistant superintendent of education. “The students taking those assessments at PSHS are either new to the state or are retaking the assessment after a previous unsuccessful attempt, which is why the numbers (of students tested) are significantly smaller.”
Gunnels said U.S. History is the only EOC primarily administered at PSHS.
“There will be another round of assessments next week for students who weren’t successful during Spring EOC’s, so those numbers will change prior to the official results that are used to calculate the district’s accountability ratings,” Gunnels said.
He added that the figures also include students who transferred into the district after “Snapshot Date”, the last Friday in October. “Students who transfer in after Snapshot are not included in the district’s accountability calculations,” Gunnels said.
According to the TEA, Lovelady High School English I students had a 71% passing rate, unchanged from last year; Algebra I scores were down 2 points at 78%; English II (78%) and Biology (93%) results were up both up 3 points and U.S. History scores showed 86% passing, with no previous data available.
Students in the Farmersville ISD scored 6 points higher in both Algebra I (90% at grade level) and English I (84%). English II scores were up 2 points to 85%, unchanged at 97% for U.S. History and down 1 point — but also 97% — in Biology.
Farmersville High School students improved 8 points from last year in Algebra I at 83%, up 6 points to 84% in English I, up 2 points in English II to 85%, unchanged in U.S. History at 97% and down 1 point in Biology at 97%.
At Farmersville Junior High, 99% of students met grade level in Algebra I, the same rate as in 2025.
“The Spring 2026 results reflect continued academic progress for Texas students,” the TEA said. “Statewide, the percentage of students meeting grade level increased across all EOC subject areas and student groups.”
