The Princeton City Council will hold a public hearing at 6 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 17, to consider increasing the property tax rate to help fund a proposed Fiscal Year 2026-27 budget of $118.46 million in total revenues and $112.77 million in total expenditures.
Chief Financial Officer Kelly Wilson said 53% of the budget goes for public safety, 18% to general government, 11% to culture and recreation, 10% to development services and 8% to public works.
During a public hearing on the budget, speakers called for changes or additional information.
Sharad Ramani said residents would not favor the proposal to freeze water and wastewater rates for a year followed by the “sticker shock” of a series of 4% increases.
