Graduation for the Princeton Senior High School Class of 2027 will be held in Denton at the University of North Texas Coliseum.
The commencement ceremony will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, May 23, at 601 N. Texas Boulevard, Denton, 76201.
Princeton ISD moved the event from the Credit Union of Texas Allen Event Center, which had become too small to accommodate all of the graduates and their families.
The Class of 2024 had 511 members, 2026 had 619 members and the Class of 2026 graduated 645 students in May. The Class of ’27 is expected to have close to 670 grads, said Jean Ann Collins, PISD public information officer.
PSHS Principal Richard Boring said at the Feb. 23 meeting of the PISD Board of Trustees it costs the district $20,000 to rent the Allen facility, which has a capacity of 5,200 and provides eight tickets for each student.
The principal said The Star in Frisco was the only larger venue in the immediate area, would require booking in advance and charges $120,000 rental with 10 tickets per student.
The UNT Coliseum, also known as the Super Pit, has a capacity of 9,797 so there would not be a ticket limit for the next event, Collins said.
