A data center planned just east of Princeton will get 150 gallons of water per minute from a well to be drilled on the property, according to a permit granted by the North Texas Groundwater Conservation District.
On June 9, directors of the district voted unanimously to approve a well permit for BT Aycock Data Center LLC in Farmers Branch.
The permit said the well would be located at 680 CR 561 and the application included coordinates for its precise location.
Collin Central Appraisal District lists the site as nearly 50 acres in two tracts as Property ID 1190847 (32.85 acres) and Property ID 1905255 (16.665 acres).
The well application requested 5.56 million gallons of water during construction through 2028 and 1.65 million gallons per year after that, with a production capacity of 150 gallons per minute. According to the application, the well would be used for “Commercial/Small Business” after 2028.
The source of the water would be the Woodbine Aquifer underlying 17 counties in North Texas. It provides water for municipal, industrial, domestic, livestock and small irrigation supplies.
The aquifer is not a water source for Lake Lavon, the North Texas Municipal Water District said.
