Old Time Saturday fun, festivities set for Oct. 3

by | Oct 1, 2026 | Area News, Latest, News

Farmersville’s signature hometown celebration returns Saturday, Oct. 3, as the 46th annual Old Time Saturday brings a full day of activities, competition and longtime traditions to downtown.

The festivities begin at 8 a.m. with the Audie Murphy Hero Run 5K, Farmersville Market and Education Row and the Old Time Saturday Car Show.

The Hero Run begins at The Onion Shed, 151 S. Main St., with runners competing individually or as part of a 5K team along the Chaparral Trail. Registration is available through RunSignup.

Farmersville Market and Education Row will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Onion Shed, South Main Street and on the downtown square. The car show, hosted by the city at First Baptist Church parking lot, 124 S. Washington St., runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Two longtime community traditions follow shortly after the festival begins.

The Silver Centennial Citizen will be recognized at 8:15 a.m. The program honors an adult age 65 or older who lives, works or is active in the Farmersville community. The honoree also receives a special place in the Old Time Saturday parade.

The crowning of Little Mr. and Miss Old Time Saturday begins at 8:30 a.m., along with raffle drawings. The tradition gives Farmersville children in pre-K through sixth grade, including homeschool and academy students, an opportunity to sell raffle tickets and earn a place in the parade.

This year’s Little Mr. and Miss raffle prize is the winner’s choice of $500 cash or a pair of Meta Ray-Ban glasses.

A live DJ will provide music from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., followed by one of the festival’s signature events, the Old Time Saturday Parade, at 10 a.m.

Activities continue into the afternoon. The Kids Activity Zone will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Onion Shed yard. At 11:30 a.m., the Rib Rumble rib-eating contest gets underway at Farmersville Music Hall. Competitors will have 10 minutes to finish two racks of barbecue ribs, with the winner taking home a championship belt and bragging rights.

The LSGTPA Tractor Pull runs from noon to 4 p.m. at Rike Field, while Money in the Hay Stack will be held from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Chaparral Trail Head.

Old Time Saturday has been a Farmersville tradition since 1980, bringing residents and visitors together to celebrate the city’s history, businesses and community organizations.
