Collin County is planning to hold in-person and virtual meetings to present updates on two segments of the proposed Outer Loop roadway project.
Segments 2 and 4 of the Collin County Outer Loop would extend about 14 miles from County Road 656 northeast of Farmersville to the Rockwall County line northwest of Royse City.
The roadway is intended to be a new location freeway with a 500 ft. right-of-way that would be constructed in phases over time as the need grows.
An in-person public meeting is planned from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, at Leland Edge Middle School, 620 N. FM 1138, Nevada. A virtual presentation will be available at CCOL-SE.com.
The county is conducting a study to finalize the alignment and develop the schematic design and environmental impact analysis of the north-south section in the southeast section of the county.
The project began in mid-2024 with the refinement of the previously identified 2009-2010 “Technically Preferred Alignment” to adjust for any new constraints in the project area.
The project team is now developing the schematic design for the roadway and evaluating the potential impacts on the human and natural environment.
It would be part of a larger system of proposed freeways called the Regional Outer Loop extending through Denton, Collin, Rockwall, Kaufman and possibly Ellis Counties.
In Collin County, the system would span 55 miles from the Denton County Line through cities including Celina, Weston, Anna, Melissa, Farmersville, Josephine and Royse City.
