Princeton boys basketball officially started the new year with two high speed district games last week against Prosper and McKinney Boyd.

They competed hard against both teams earning a 46-41 win against Prosper and a close loss vs. Boyd, 69-60.

“The first win was a great way to start the year in district,” head coach Eric Lockman said. “I liked the effort throughout the game and the effort they put throughout the adversity we went through first half.”

Princeton came out with an early lead scoring 11 points in the first quarter but was down by 7 at the half.

“It was frustrating because we got away from what we are good at and we got caught up in Prosper’s game,” Lockman said. “But we made adjustments at half, and I’m proud of how we came back out at the third.”

Princeton came into the second half with big energy and scored 27 points to win by two points over the Prosper Eagles.

“It felt good to make an impact as a team,” senior Jordan Mosley said. “I was a little shaky, but I’m becoming more comfortable the more I practice.”

The Prosper game was Mosley’s first basketball game this season after being on injured reserve following the football season.

The team traveled to McKinney Boyd Friday and started the game with high energy, but with a few mistakes, the game did not go the Panther’s way.

“I feel like it was a winnable game,” Mosley said. “We kinda beat ourselves.”

Lockman said he is hopeful about the second half of district and the tail end of the season.

“I think especially coming back to Jordan, the more minutes I can give him and his abilities will help,” Lockman said. “It’s something I look forward to.”
