After not reaching the 20-point threshold in any of the three sets in their previous match against McKinney, the Princeton Lady Panthers nearly won the first set against District 6-6A newcomer Prosper Walnut Grove on Sept. 22.
However, the Lady Wildcats (2-2 district) did just enough to win the first set by two points, and they went on to send the Lady Panthers (0-5) to a hard-fought 26-24, 25-20, 25-7 home setback at Princeton Arena.
Princeton played with the same competitive spirit to commence last Friday’s home match against Prosper Rock Hill (2-4). But just like in their previous match, the Lady Panthers were unable to build on a strong start in a 25-23, 25-16, 25-12 loss to the Lady Blue Hawks.
Alexis Osaghae led Princeton with 15 kills for the week, Ivy Steger dished out 22 assists and Samantha Phillips had five service aces and passed at a 1.88 rate.
Princeton looked to break into the win column Tuesday at Prosper. Results were unavailable at press time. The Lady Panthers will begin the second half of District 6-6A play at state-ranked Allen on Friday night. First serve is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
