Council calls special election, approves water study

by | Feb 12, 2026 | Latest, News

The Princeton City Council has called a special election to fill a vacant council seat and has approved a multi-year contract for water and wastewater rate consulting.

The Monday, Feb. 9, meeting included agenda items from the Jan. 26 meeting that was rescheduled and then cancelled because of the winter storm. Mayor pro tem Bryan Washington conducted the meeting in the absence of Mayor Eugene Escobar Jr.

The special election, called for Saturday, May 2, is to fill Seat 4 following the resignation of Councilmember Ryan Gerfers.

Gerfers, the women’s soccer coach at Princeton Senior High School, had said, “Recently my health has taken a huge hit and I can’t seem to get back to 100%. I don’t think it’s fair to the residents or to myself to show up and not be able to give everything I have.”
