The city of Princeton has agreed to pay $1 million to North Collin Special Utility District under a settlement intended to end years of litigation over which utility has the right to provide water service to growing areas west of the city.
After discussing the lawsuit and proposed settlement in executive session, the Princeton City Council voted in open session Aug. 10 to approve a resolution authorizing the agreement.
The settlement terms were not released with the vote and were obtained by The Princeton Herald through a public information request. The agreement establishes service territories for the two utilities, calls for dismissal of pending litigation and addresses water service to the Meritage, Lennar and Tivoli developments and other properties within an area where the utilities’ service rights have overlapped.
