The city of Princeton has hired a second assistant city manager, joining Allison Cook on the staff of City Manager Mike Mashburn.
New Assistant City Manager Fred Gibbs had been director of development services for the town of Little Elm for the past seven years.
In addition to development, he managed planning and zoning, permitting, building safety and inspection, Geographic Information Systems and engineering, Mayor Eugene Escobar Jr. said.
“Gibbs is experienced in solving the challenges of rapid growth related to zoning, housing affordability and variety, transportation, environmental impact, and thoughtful, long-term planning that promotes economic vitality while preserving residents’ quality of life,” Escobar said.
The mayor said Gibbs was also responsible for updating the town’s capital improvements plan, including updates to roadway, water, and wastewater systems, and implementing the Little Elm Strategic Plan’s goals regarding development services.
Cook was hired last year as assistant city manager after serving as director of economic development and tourism for the city of Farmers Branch.
Deputy City Manager John Land, a contract employee through his consulting company, North Shore Solutions, resigned in February after a year on the job.
