ALLEN — The Princeton Panthers visited the Allen Eagles Friday night and found out why the Eagles are the top-ranked team in the area and possibly the best team in Texas.
Allen built a 51-0 halftime lead before cruising to a 65-7 victory at Eagle Stadium.
Establishing an explosive offense early in the game, Allen wasted no time getting on the scoreboard on its first possession.
Three running plays covered 54 yards, with Jrue Simmons scoring from the Princeton 27-yard line.
The Panthers appeared ready to match the Eagles with a touchdown of their own, driving to Allen’s 29-yard line, but a strong rush forced an errant pass from quarterback Ayden Hughes on fourth down.
Allen immediately drove 71 yards for another touchdown, and after recovering a Hughes fumble while he was scrambling, the Eagles scored on the very next play. Quarterback Ty Snell found Lyndon Spriggs for a 24-yard touchdown pass and a 21-0 first-quarter lead.
Princeton continued to display determined effort in the second half, forcing and recovering three Allen fumbles while consistently frustrating the Allen offense.
Senior defensive end Kaidon Williams was a standout, sacking Snell once and recovering a fumble. Sophomore Raymond Ofoma also recovered a fumble.
After recovering an Allen fumble at the end of the third quarter, Princeton started the drive at the 50-yard line. Hard running from Sammy Musimbe and three completions from Hughes put the Panthers inside the Allen 5-yard line, and Aidan Lanier finished the possession with a 3-yard touchdown run around the right end.
Musimbe led the Panthers in rushing with 33 yards and added three receptions for 15 yards.
Hughes threw for 129 yards on 15 pass completions, finding senior receiver Jayden Rogers four times for 51 yards.
