Two candidates signed up July 27 for the Princeton municipal election that will fill the offices of mayor and three council positions in Nov. 3 balloting.
Filing for the office of mayor was Councilman John-Mark Caldwell, who has one year remaining on his Place 3 term. Incumbent Mayor Ken Bowers has not indicted whether he will seek re-election, but said if he decides to do so he will sign up late in the filing period.
Also filing for office July 27 was Councilman David Kleiber, seeking to retain his Place 1 seat.
Princeton voters must elect three council members and a mayor this fall, all 2-year terms. The other two offices to be filled are Place 2, held by Bill Glass, and the unexpired year of a term in Place 4, currently vacant by resignation.
Holdover city council members are Caldwell and Steve Deffibaugh, Place 5.
The filing window opened Monday for candidates seeking spots on Princeton City Council and Princeton Independent School District Board of Trustees.
Elections are slated for Nov. 3.
Filings remain open through Monday, Aug. 24, the last day to register to vote is Oct. 5, and early voting is set for Oct. 19-30.
Three positions on the PISD board must be filled this fall. Trustees are elected at-large and serve for three years.
Board members whose terms are expiring are Kyle Strickland, Brent Collins and Bob Lovelady, currently serving as board secretary. All three trustees have indicated they will seek new terms. As of press time, no one has filed for the PISD school board.
Holdover trustees are Carol Bodwell, Tim Tidwell, Lisa Caldwell and Ricky Gillespie.
At a board meeting last week, trustees approved calling the election.
