The Princeton City Council has approved sweeping increases to development and fire department fees. The action came at the regular Monday, July 27, meeting after city staff said the current schedule no longer reflected the actual cost of reviewing development projects and providing inspections.

Mayor pro tem Bryan Washington presided over the meeting in the absence of Mayor Eugene Escobar Jr. Councilmember Terrance Johnson was also absent.

Development Services Director Shai Roos and Deputy Fire Chief/Fire Marshal Samantha Jones said Princeton’s rapid growth had dramatically increased the number and complexity of development applications requiring review by multiple city departments, outside engineering consultants, legal counsel and technical specialists.
