Trustees of the Princeton Independent School District have chosen Carlos Cuellar as president of the school board, succeeding Cyndi Darland.

Starla Sharpe was chosen as vice president and Bianca Washington as secretary.

The internal election was held Monday, Nov. 17, after trustees certified results of the Nov. 4 general election.

The canvass confirmed Sonia Ledezma and incumbent Trustee John Campbell were the two candidates willing the most votes of the seven candidates on the ballot.

They were sworn in by Amy Ivy, administrative assistant to Superintendent Donald McIntyre.

Complete, official returns from Collin County Elections showed Ledezma with 24.82% of the vote and Campbell with 20.85%. Incumbent board member Julie Schmoker polled in fourth place with 18.63% to Melissa Ait Belaid’s 19.83%.

As the meeting began, the board displayed the 2025 Princeton ISD Christmas card designed by Aaruhi Bhaumik, a first grader at Harper Elementary. Her parents are Aniruddha Bhaumik and Sharmistha Saha Roy.
