Princeton Plays, the city’s parks and recreation department, is planning four hours of family fun on the shore of the pond behind the Municipal Center, 2000 E. Princeton Drive.

The annual catch-and-release Fishin’ Frenzy will be held between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday, April 18.

There are 200 fishing slots available per hour, and anglers must register for a time. There is a link on Facebook by searching for “princetontxparkandrec” and then clicking on the Fishin’ Frenzy graphic.

Poles and bait will be provided for free, or fisherfolk may bring their own bait and tackle.

Chase Bryant, director of parks and recreation, said the 13-foot-deep pond is stocked with tilapia, largemouth bass, bluegill and sunfish and will be restocked just before the event. For safety, the pond has a three-foot-shelf along the shore, he said.

Kids under the age of 17 are exempt from needing a fishing license, but adults are required to have a current Texas Parks & Wildlife Department (TPWD) license.
