Since the inception of the Teacher Incentive Allotment program in the 2022-23 school year, Princeton ISD teachers have received nearly $5 million for their outstanding performance, says Casey Gunnels, assistant superintendent of education.
“We had a 70% increase in the number of designations that were issued this year,” Gunnels said at the Monday, May 11, regular meeting of the Princeton ISD Board of Trustees. “That brings our total currently to 34% of our teaching staff that carries the designation through the teacher incentive allotment. This year alone, our teachers received an additional $2,475,281 in compensation from the state [and] they are guaranteed that amount for the next five years.”
Gunnels said the district certified 78 Master Teachers this year, 138 Exemplary Teachers and 29 Recognized Teachers.
