Three days after Princeton’s boys basketball team defeated Frisco Wakeland 84-56 in its most decisive outing of the young season, the Panthers carried that momentum into tournament play last week. They turned in another strong showing at a tournament hosted by Arlington Martin High School.
The Panthers began the two-day tournament with an 81-56 triumph over Austin Prep Academy on Nov. 24. Princeton lost 73-61 to Arlington Martin later in the day and suffered a 78-69 defeat to Kingdom Collegiate Academy on Nov. 25, but the Panthers (4-4) bounced back with a hard-fought 68-65 win over Fort Worth Boswell to finish the event on a positive note.
The Princeton girls were also in action on Nov. 25.
The Lady Panthers put up a fight against Mansfield Summit in the first half, but a 20-3 third-quarter run for the host Lady Jaguars proved to be the difference in a 55-36 win for Summit over Princeton.
Summit led 12-8 at the end of the first quarter and 29-20 at halftime. Princeton outscored Summit 13-6 in the fourth quarter, but a 20-3 scoring edge for the Lady Jaguars in the third quarter proved too much for the Lady Panthers (2-7) to overcome.
Chandler Evans was brilliant in defeat, scoring 14 points. Rayleigh Williams added nine points for Princeton, followed by six from Jada Childress.
