Dozens of McKinney city officials have gotten a first look at the 46,000-square-foot passenger terminal under construction at McKinney National Airport, known as TKI.
Contractors said during the Thursday, Feb. 26, tour that the project was about 60% complete and on schedule to be finished in November.
The facility will have four aircraft gates, with the capability to add two more.
It was designed to initially serve 200,000 passengers per year with the prospect of expanding to serve more than one million travelers a year. The parking lot, with access off FM 546, has 980 spaces and could grow to 1,450 spaces.
Houston-based Avelo Airlines, a low-cost carrier flying Boeing Next-Generation 737-800 aircraft, was the first airline to commit to serving TKI.
Avelo has not announced a schedule but already flies from DFW International and Houston Hobby, with connections to about 40 cities through its hub in New Haven, Connecticut.
